VEHICLE CRASH: Woman not wearing seatbelt killed in Highway 50 collision
Sacramento, California – A female passenger who did not buckle her seatbelt was killed early Tuesday morning in a vehicle crash along Highway 50, east of Interstate 5.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 1998 Camaro driven by Rodney Glass, 37, broke down in the middle of the highway at around 1:00 a.m.
Glass turned on the emergency lights and seated in the driver seat wearing a seatbelt. However, his passenger, a 52-year-old Sacramento woman did not wear her seatbelt.
Moments later, a driver who did not see the stopped car smashed his Chevrolet El Camino into Glass’s car, killing the woman passenger.
Fifty-year-old Jay Stebley, the driver of the El Camino, and Glass were brought to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.
The victim’s name was not released until her family members are notified, the CHP said.
Investigation of the accident is on-going.
