Wandering Pedestrian Killed when Struck

November 2, 2008


Los Angeles, California - A pedestrian was killed wan he was struck as he was wandering in the 405 freeway and into a car’s path, causing a traffic tie-ups as well as seven-car pileup.

The man was walking towards southbound on the freeway’s right hand shoulder that is near the Olympic Boulevard when, for reasons that are unknown, he just walked into the way of a 2007 Nissan Altima.

California Highway Patrol said the car’s driver “was unable to take evasive action.”

Meanwhile, according to authorities, the 22-year-old female driver of the said car was driving 50 to 65 miles per hour and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

CHP said the pedestrian hit the car’s windshield and hood before striking the ground, causing him to obtain a “major head trauma.”

The man was announced dead at the scene of the incident.

According to CHP Officer Anthony Martin, the incident also caused “seven to eight cars” to crash and also the blockage of the freeway’s four lanes in the immediate area for around two hours. None of the motorists who were involved in the crash obtained serious injuries.
