CAR CRASH: UC Student Dies in Single-Car Crash

Davis – A female university student leaving a party was killed Sunday morning after colliding with a tree and wall of a house not far from where she departed, authorities said.
University of California (UC) Davis student Sandra Adelin Garcia-Velazquez, 21, was heading east on West 8th Street from Anderson Road around 4 am when the accident happened.
According to her friends who were driving behind in another car, Garcia-Velazquez’s Volkswagen Jetta veered across into the oncoming traffic lane, crashed into a tree, and bounced into the south wall of a house in the 800 block of Miller Drive.
Davis Police spokesman Lt. Paul Doroshov said that Garcia-Velazquez was found unresponsive at the scene and was pronounced dead later. The car was left severely damaged.
No one inside the home was injured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
