TRUCK ACCIDENT: Truck Spills Load Causing Acid Spill in Interstate 5

October 25, 2011

San Juan Capistrano - Traffic was jammed between the San Diego County line and San Juan Capistrano when dozen of muriatic acid bottles tumbled out of a truck and spilled over Interstate 5, a LA Times report said.

As a result, authorities had to close the northbound lanes near the San Juan Creek Road to have the acid neutralized and cleaned up by firefighters.

Investigators said the incident occurred at around 11 am when some bottles of the acid fell off the truck. Police believed that the load was not properly secured which caused it to fall off the truck.

Muriatic acid is commonly used in swimming pools.
