TRAIN ACCIDENT: Train Accident Kills Caltrans Worker

San Diego – A train accident in National City has killed a 64-year-old Caltrans worker Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Stephen Palmer Sr. of Jamul was working on the tracks north of 24th Street when he was hit by a southbound train. The trolley driver said he saw Palmer and tried to apply brakes as he honked at him.

Palmer reportedly looked up but was unable to get off the tracks in time.

Rescuers found him with a serious head injury. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. He had been working at Caltrans for the past four years.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
