PRODUCT LIABILITY: “The Biggest Loser” Trainer Charged with Class-action Suit Over False Advertisement

California - The Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michaels has been charged with class-action lawsuit alleging that she committed false advertising of a weight-loss supplement.

Christie Christensen filed the lawsuit claiming that she was tricked into buying the “Jillian Michaels Maximum Strength Calorie Control” since the product was endorsed by a “reputable trainer”.

Michaels is a trainer in a hit reality TV show in which overweight contestants need to shed their extra weight.

Christensen said the weight-loss supplement did not diminish her appetite or cause her to lose weight as promised by Michaels.

The said product promises that a person can lose weight by taking two capsules before meals without having to do exercise or dieting.

In response to the lawsuit, Michaels called the accusation as “baseless” and said she will continue to endorse the product.

“I will continue to endorse all my products and remain committed in helping people to achieve their wellness goals”, she said in a statement.

The trainer also said that her legal team will handle the lawsuit to protect her “credibility and reputation” which she called as most important for her career.

While the lawsuit is asking for unspecified damages, some legal experts believe that it could reach to $5 million.
