August 16, 2011
Los Angeles - A teenage driver crashed a stolen Chevy Tahoe into a one-story house in Artesia on Tuesday at 2:25 a.m.
According to Los Angeles police reports, the young driver was approaching the Clarkdale Avenue and 183rd Street intersection when it slammed the stolen SUV into a house. The family members were inside their home, but were not injured in the accident.
Police officers arrested the boy at the scene, but his name was not disclosed because he is a minor.
Reports said the Chevy Tahoe plowed into the fence and crashed into the front door of the house. The family members were able to avoid injury as their bedrooms were located at the rear of the residence.
Virgina Martins, the homeowner, said that the house's fence has been hit four times already, but the front door was struck for the first time. Her husband commented that the property has insurance and they are expecting full coverage for the damage. The family has been living in the residence for 40 years.
Authorities are inspecting whether the house is safe to occupy.
