PREMISE LIABILITY: Student injured in Northern Illinois University shooting
February 19, 2010
DeKalb, III – A Northern Illinois University student was injured in a dispute against a fellow student this morning, within the NIU campus.
According to NIU President John Peters, a student was shot at the leg outside a residence hall. Fortunately, the student suffered only minor injuries.
Peter says the other student was arrested by the NIU police shortly after the shooting.
The incident happened less than a week after NIU commemorated the two-year anniversary of another shooting that happened in campus where five students were killed before the gunman shot himself.
In spite of the shooting, Peters says classes are still going on as usual. However, he says students, faculty, and staff members can schedule counseling services if they need help.
