Los Angeles, California - A man and two girls were struck by a sports utility vehicle outside an elementary school located in Diamond Bar.
Lt. John Saleeby of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Walnut station said the accident occurred in front of the Maple Hill Elementary School.
According to spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department Ronal Haralson, the driver lost his control of the vehicle, which went over the sidewalk and hit a man, a 2-year-old girl, and a 4-year-old girl.
The accident left the 2-year-old girl in a critical condition.
L.A. County Fire Department spokesman Sam Padilla said the man and one of the girls were airlifted from the school towards a hospital. The other girl was transported by an ambulance.
Authorities said that the 4-year-old girl and the man sustained non-life threatening injuries but the 2-year-old girl was listed in a critical condition.
The SUV driver was still being questioned at the accident scene, said Saleeby. There has been no arrest as the investigation regarding the cause of the accident is still ongoing, he said.
