ANIMAL ATTACK INCIDENT: Riverside Dog Owner Held Liable for not Keeping Pets Properly Leashed

Riverside – The Riverside County Department of Animal Services has found the owner of two dogs liable for the attack that resulted in the death of a miniature horse on a ranch between Corona and Perris, reports said.
County officials said the two dogs, each weighing about 120 pounds got loose from the property where they kept and escaped by leaping over the six-foot-high fence. The dogs traveled another two miles in the unincorporated land before the attacking the miniature horse in the ranch.
An animal services officer had to use a tranquilizer dart to shoot one of the dogs, which was later euthanized with permission from the owner. The other dog was later shot and killed.
Cesar Siordia was cited with violation for not keeping his dogs properly leashed. No criminal charges were filed.
