Orange County- A California Highway Patrol officer who was heading to check a vehicular fire near Kingsburg sustained minor injuries after being involved in a collision Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The 31-year-old CHP officer Gabriel Perez was responding to a reported vehicular fire with another officer, Garrett Perez, 27, in a westbound patrol car on Mountain View Avenue when he collided with a 2001 Toyota.

Reports indicate that Gabriel Perez was initially positioned to make a left turn when it instead turned to the right hitting the Toyota that was passing on the right side of the patrol car.
