BUS ACCIDENT: Rear-ended School Bus Sends Children to Hospitals

December 16, 2010

Angels Camp – Thirteen children were reportedly sent to hospitals after their school bus that was stopped at a crosswalk was rear-ended Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol said.

The accident occurred on Main Street and Lee Lane, near Bret Harte High School, at around 8 am. San Andreas CHP said that the bus, en route to school, was rear-ended by a pickup truck at low speed while giving way for a pedestrian in the cross walk.

The school bus was carrying 30 junior high school students from Mark Twain Elementary School at the time of the accident, with ages ranging between 12 and 13. Jimmy Castillo of the CHP said that none of the injuries were serious, and the students only complained of neck pains.

Those who were injured were sent to hospitals in Sonora, San Andreas, and Modesto. Castillo said that the driver of the pickup has not been cited.
