Police dog attacks Police officer

Alameda — The local police department has suspended the use of their police dogs after one of them attacked a police officer,which led to the dog’s death, a Belgion Malinois. Because of the incident, the department decided to stop the K-9 program for the meantime.
Reports said the police officer and Billy, a K-9 unit member were responding to a burglary in the morning when the incident occured. The dog suddenly attacked the officer and did not let go of the officer’s arm, even when the handler instructed it to stop. The officer who was bitten shot it three times and killed it.
The dog has been with the police department for than three years and was assigned to its current handler in September. Another Belgian Malinois died when it was left inside a police officer’s sport utility vehicle after a force training exercise. He only left one window down for ventilation and it suffocated.
