ANIMAL ATTACK: Pit Bull Attacks, Shot, and Euthanized
January 17, 2010
Clairemont Mesa – A pit bull that attacked and caused panic to people in the neighborhood was euthanized after a responding officer shot and hit the animal four times, authorities said.
A witness alerted authorities at around 7a.m. that two aggressive dogs, the 1-year-old pit bull and another dog, were causing trouble and at one point menaced an elderly couple.
Authorities responded to the call and headed to Derrick Avenue and Genesee Drive where one of the officers opened fire when the dogs charged.
The pit bull was hit four times while the other ran away and was later picked up by the Department of Animal Services who also issued a ticket to the owner.
