Parents Arrested after Leaving Children Unfastened in DUI Crash

Los Angeles- Drunk parents who crashed their vehicle in Van Nuys Boulevard are now facing charges after leaving the children unfastened on Monday at 12:30 a.m.
According to reports, the drunken couple asked a friend to drive them and their kids home. The friend agreed and drove the family north of Valerio Street. The driver, who was also intoxicated, collided with an oncoming Mustang.
Police officers found high level of alcohol in the other driver's body. Both motorists were arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) charges. The parents were facing felony child endangerment violations, reports said.
Reports said the couple and their three kids in the back seat suffered minor injuries. The Mustang driver sustained serious injuries. Rescuers transported the injured people to a local hospital.
The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services will take custody of the children while the investigation is ongoing.
