Otay Mesa Crash Kills One, Injures Another

San Diego, CA - A crash kills a man Tuesday after his speeding car rammed into oncoming traffic.
Ramiro Rodriguez was driving his 1997 Volkswagen Jetta around 2 a.m. eastbound along Otay Mesa Road near Cactus Road when for unknown reasons; he speeded up and crossed over the raised center island.
The 49-year-old truck driver from San Ysidro was killed in the collision, according to an investigator with the Medical Examiner's Office said.
The westbound vehicle that struck Rodriguez was driven by a 40-year-old unidentified man. He sustained injuries in chest and knees and was rushed to a hospital.
Sgt. Bob Dare of San Diego Police Department reports that Rodriguez wasn’t wearing his seatbelt when the collision occurred.
Autopsy that could show possible reason for Rodriguez’ action is still pending.
Otay Mesa Road at Cactus Road was closed after the fatal crash and has re-opened at around 7:30 am
