Old Woman Killed in Freight Train-SUV Collision

Palmdale- An old woman died after her sport utility vehicle was struck by a northbound freight train, Thursday morning, at the Rancho Vista Boulevard railroad crossing.
Rosalie McGinnis, 82, of Palmdale, was struck by the Metrolink passenger train after her Chevrolet Tracker was caught in a heavy westbound traffic and was trapped on the tracks when the crossing arms came down.
McGrinnis tried to turn the SUV around but it got struck in gravel and soft earth.
The vehicle was hit on the passenger side and almost folded in half, and the victim, who was wearing seat belt, probably died due to impact, authorities said.
Officials stated that McGinnis suffered injuries to her neck.
The freight train did not sustain any damage as well as the engineer.
