PERSONAL INJURY LAW: New Study Bares Poor Condition of California Roads

September 3, 2010

Los Angeles - A report released by The Reason Foundation has revealed that road conditions in California is bad, with many road pavements that are cracked, broken and full of potholes, while roads across the country has improved.

The study also showed that California was ranked 48 out of the 50 states although generally, highways across the country are in their best shape in 20 years.

The foundation report also pointed out the relationship between the economy and road conditions and traffic problems. The report showed that in most parts of the country, the roads are in good shape because less people are driving, which make roads less vulnerable to wear and tear, during these hard economic times.

However, in California, despite the bad economy, people continue to do business and highways and roads are often busy.

Road safety experts said poor road conditions can lead to accidents but some California motorists have found a way to deal with the problem. One motorist said she tries to avoid certain places or freeways with potholes.

Hawaii and Rhode Island was also in the bottom list of the study.
