VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Musician Mike Edwards died in A381 Highway freak accident
September 8, 2010
Los Angeles - Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) founding member Mike Edwards died after a freak accident on A381 highway near Halwell and Harbetonford in Devon.
Edwards was heading his van to Kinsgbridge when a bale of hay rolled down 15-feet a slope and smashed onto the van. It veered and crashed onto an approaching small van, reports said.
The musician sustained fatal injuries, while the second van driver was left uninjured, police said.
Edwards helped found ELO and was well known for his thrilling "Dying Swan" cello concert using a grapefruit.
He performed on "Electric Light Orchestra II," "The Night The Lights Went On (In Long Beach)" and "On the Third Day" albums.
