Man in Wheelchair Hit by Driver Survives Despite Injuries

San Diego – A paraplegic on a wheelchair is expected to recover after being injured when he was pinned under a vehicle. The driver was reportedly using his cellular phone while driving at Ninth Avenue, the San Diego Police Department said.
The man went under the vehicle after it ran over his torso and his face. He went through treatment to fix his facial fractures but officials say that his recovery may soon follow.
Reports indicate that the vehicle first hit another car before slamming the man on a wheelchair and stopping right over him. Authorities had to extricate the man from under the vehicle.
Police confiscated the man’s phone to determine whether he was using it before the accident. The man possibly will not face charges but the District Attorney will make the final determination.
