CAR ACCIDENT: Malibu teen killed in car accident at PCH

April 6, 2010

Los Angeles - A Malibu High School student was killed in a car crash at Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) on Saturday.

Emily Rose Shane, 13 years old, was hit by a Mitsubishi Lancer while walking along PCH near Heathercliff Drive at 5:11 p.m.

As a result, Los Angeles County sheriff deputies have arrested the car driver, Sina Khankhanian on suspicion of murder. Deputies will initiate the filing of the lawsuit at the District Attorney's Office.

Investigators suspected that Khankhanian, 26 years old, intentionally hit Shane.

Khankhanian contested that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

However his blood alcohol content (BAC) test showed negative results. Investigators are still verifying the results of his toxicology drug test.

Deputies also caught an Asian man who was taking pictures of Shane immediately after the car crash.

The accident scene was next to a shopping center, where the section of the highway has no sidewalk for pedestrians.
