Buena Park – At least ten people were injured in a theme park accident in Buena Park last night.
The accident happened shortly before 8:00 pm in the Knott’s Berry Farm theme park after one of their roller coasters malfunctioned.
According to a park spokesperson, one of the Pony Express cars failed to make it up to an incline and then rolled back, crashing into another car in the station.
The injured riders were transported to local hospitals by six ambulances after feeling some minor back and neck pains, the Orange County Fire Authority said.
The victims were between the ages of 12 and 60.
Despite the accident, the theme park continued its operations until its normal closing time of 1:00am.
The Pony Express has been operational since 2008 and this is the first accident related to the ride.
The spokesperson from the company told media that the cause of the malfunction was still unclear but the company will be conducting an investigation.
