AVIATION ACCIDENTS: Hang Glider Crashes in Concord, Suffers Brain Injury

Concord -- A hang glider crashed in Mountain View Elementary School on Sunday afternoon, and suffered a potential traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Based on Concord police investigations, the hang glider took off from Mount Diablo, and encountered difficulty upon landing. Two witnesses from the elementary school reported that they noticed the hang glider, circling a field on the school.
Concord police officials believed that the man was trying to find a safe land site, when he suddenly plunged 30 feet to the ground at 3:20 p.m. The man smashed into an asphalt walkway that surrounds the campus.
The pilot, who was between 50 to 60 years old, suffered major head trauma. The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) teams rushed him to John Muir Medical Center. Doctors listed him in critical condition, and he is diagnosed for a potential traumatic brain injury.
Police investigators are still trying to identify the victim. Mountain View Elementary School is situated in 1705 Thornwood Drive.
