CAR COLLISION: Female Driver, two officers hurt in Orange crash

September 22, 2010

Orange – A female driver and two police officers were injured after an Orange Police Department car carrying two arrested men crashed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee Wednesday morning, police said.

The accident reportedly happened at 11:17 am on the intersection of Batavia Street and Chapman Avenue, Sgt. Dan Adams of the Orange Police Department added.

The police car was traveling southbound on Batavia and entered the intersection of Chapman the same time as the Cherokee, driven by a woman, turned up from east of Chapman. Witnesses claim that the Cherokee ran a red light.

Firefighters helped the police remove the driver and took her to a nearby hospital. She is now in stable condition, Adams said.

The two officers also had minor injuries but were not taken to the hospital. The arrested men, who were being transferred from Orange Police Department to Orange County Jail, were not hurt.

Adams said that the California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision since Orange police officers were involved.
