ROAD SAFETY: Fatal Accidents in California Continue to Decrease, Statistics Say July 21, 2011 California- Statistics released by the Office of Traffic Safety showed that the number of fatal accidents in the state has decreased by almost 12 percent in 2010. Records show that in 2005, about 4,333 fatal crashes occurred in the state. This number dropped to 2,715 in 2010. According to state officials, the number of deadly crashes decreased for five consecutive years. Officials said the numbers are lowest for California since 1944. Roads have become safer to use though the number of cars which may be found on them increased by at least 10 times.
