PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: Elderly Struck by Vehicle near Easton

Easton – A 72-year-old Fresno man suffered fatal injuries after being hit by a car near Easton, Tuesday morning.

Investigators said Wayne Hitchcock was walking at Adams Avenue near Highway 41 when he was struck by a 2005 Volvo at about 5:30 a.m., authorities said.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the driver of the Volvo swerved but failed to avoid hitting Hitchcock on the westbound lane of Adams Avenue. Hitchcock was thrown almost 50 feet from the scene, police said.

CHP said the driver stopped and tried to help Hitchcock.
