Sacramento – A 50-year-old man was run over and killed Tuesday morning by several vehicles in Interstate 80, the California Highway Patrol said.
The victim’s body was found on the westbound lanes of the highway near Watt Avenue.
According to CHP Officer Liz Dutton, they received a phone call at about 12:20 a.m. concerning a man walking near or in freeway traffic lanes. The CHP responded but were not able to locate the pedestrian.
At around 5:20 a.m., Dutton said they got calls about a body seen close to the center divider of the highway. The CHP did not release the pedestrian’s identity immediately.
Initial investigation shows that the man was struck by several vehicles, and was thrown near the center divider. Unfortunately, no vehicles stopped.
A lane of the highway was momentarily closed as investigation took place.
