DUI-Related CAR ACCIDENT: Drunk Driver Arrested for the Eighth Time after Injuring Teens

August 16, 2010

La Jolla – A 66-year old man was arrested for the eighth time on DUI offenses after injuring at least four people, including three teens, when he drove into a sidewalk and smashed into a bakery near Midway Street Sunday night, authorities said.

Police said Ronald Troyer, the driver, was reportedly driving with a suspended license along La Jolla Boulevard on his Chrysler New Yorker when he swerved into the sidewalk and slammed into Cass Street Cafe & Bakery.

Three teenaged pedestrians sustained serious injuries while one of the two patrons hit by Troyer inside the bakery was released from the hospital after being treated.

Reports show Troyer had a suspended license after being arrested on his seventh drunk driving offense. He was arrested for the eighth time on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after the recent accident.
