Driver Flees for the Thrill of the Chase and Crashes against a House

August 20, 2009

Sonoma County – Joseph Dean Marrone, a 20 year old resident of Sebastopol got arrested by the police when he failed to stop his car and instead speeded up when flagged down by the authorities.

Marrone reportedly said he fled for the thrill of getting away and ended up crashing his car through a fence and into a house. He was said to have been driving around the speed of about 70 mph in a residential neighborhood.

According to the police, Marrone was first cited on southbound Litchfield Avenue on the south end of town past midnight. But the twenty-year old didn’t stop his car and continued southbound, then west on Fircrest Avenue before he crashed into a McFarlane Avenue house at an intersection.

Despite the speed chase with the cops, Marrone and his three other passengers escaped the crash uninjured. A small amount of marijuana was subsequently found in his vehicle.

Marrone is currently facing charges for suspicion of evading a peace officer, reckless driving and possession of marijuana and will be ordered to appear in court.
