PERSONAL INJURY LAW: City to Adopt Safety Measures in Deadly Pittsburg Intersection
April 7, 2010
Pittsburg – The city has installed concrete barriers in an intersection near Marina, which was considered a high-accident prone area and scene of many vehicle crashes in the past, City Manager Marc Grisham has announced recently.
Just recently, a Tri-Delta van driven by 22-year old Terry Malone Jr. crashed into a house, and knocked down a tree in the area. Malone was later arrested by Antioch police.
The area has gained notoriety for being prone to crash accidents. Last year, a drunk driver drove through a stop sign and crash into a home.
Pittsburg police also said that many young drivers also use the intersection to perform “doughnut” maneuvers – which are circular skid marks made by spinning their in tight circles.
Some residents have likened the Marina intersection to an “airplane runway”.
