CAR CRASH: Car smashes into a home in Modesto, None injured
September 14, 2010
Modesto – Three people were left uninjured after a car crashed into their home in Modesto Monday, authorities said.
The driver of the car also escaped injury, according to Battalion Chief Randy Wheeler of Ceres Fire Department.
Wheeler said that a woman was driving westbound on River Road when, for an unknown reason, she swerved into the eastbound lane and onto the south side of the road. She overcorrected and went north, crashing and plowing into the house in 220 block of River Road.
The compact car smashed the wall near the garage and living room. Its debris landed into the kitchen.
The driver turned down medical attention, while the occupants of the home was transferred after building officials found it unsafe for them to stay inside.
This is the second time a similar accident in Stanislaus County occurred in the span of three days. California Highway Patrol reported an incident last Saturday where a Ceres police sergeant got sideswiped and eventually crashed his patrol car into a house near Smyrna Park.
