VEHICLE COLLISION: Californian Killed, 2 others Injured in Oregon Vehicle Accident
January 3, 2011
Chico – At least one person was killed and two suffered injuries Sunday afternoon in a head-on-collision between a car and a truck along Highway 97 outside Klamath Falls, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to authorities, Hadley Ann Alger from Chico, California, lost control of her Subaru while heading south on Highway 97. Her car veered to the opposing lanes and ended up in the path of an oncoming truck.
The driver of the truck, Colin Runnels, 24 from Klamath Falls, tried to avoid the collision but struck the car’s passenger side. Alger died at the scene.
Runnels suffered non-life threatening wounds and was brought to Sky Lakes Medical Center while his 24-year-old passenger, Brittany Anne Pendleton acquired severe injuries. She was airlifted to Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland for surgery.
Investigators say the icy road might have been the reason why Alger lost control of her vehicle. All victims were wearing seatbelts during the accident.
