The officer was moving southbound on 11th Street when his patrol car was suddenly hit by a northbound 1973 Chevrolet pickup truck that was approaching Florida Street.

According to authorities, the pickup driver identified as Derek Drummond, 25, from Hanford, just started to turn towards westbound Rogers Road when the accident occurred at around 6:35 p.m.

Reports said the officer was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno after he complained of head pain. He was released after receiving medical treatment.
