AVIATION ACCIDENT: Businessman Killed in Merced Plane Crash

Merced – An 88-year-old prominent businessman was killed as his twin-engine aircraft crashed into an embankment shortly before Tuesday afternoon, reports said.

Dwight Ewing, of Merced was reportedly flying his aircraft when it crashed near the off-ramp of Childs Avenue and Highway 99.

Ewing was taken to Mercy Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. No one else was reportedly injured in the accident.

Ewing was founder of The International Cessna 195 Club and owns a real estate appraising company, Ewing Associates, based in Merced.

Authorities are conducting investigations to determine the cause of the crash.
