February 23, 2010
Watsonville – A Metro bus crashed into a Clifford street garage after its driver lost consciousness, Monday night. Fortunately, there were no injuries among the passengers of the bus and the people inside the house beside the garage.
According to Sgt. Michael Ridgeway of the Watson police traffic unit, the crash was a slow-speed collision. However, he points out that it was extremely fortunate that no one was hurt, especially among the 10-15 passengers who were inside the bus when the accident happened.
The driver had been talking with the passengers when he encountered a medical emergency, which caused him to lose control of the bus near Claremont Street.
The bus ran through some bushes and collided with the garage, resulting to minor damages to the structure.
Police says no citations were released because the incident was caused by a medical emergency. However, the driver’s license will be evaluated.
