TRUCK ACCIDENT: Black Ice Blamed for Toyota Pick up Rollover Crash in Reno
November 24, 2010
Reno - A 17-year-old woman sustained minor injuries after a roll over crash caused by black ice on Interstate 80 on Wednesday morning.
The teenage driver from Reno was driving her 2000 Toyota pick up near Robb Drive when the car stumbled on a black ice and rolled over, Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) reports said.
Paramedics arrived shortly and administered treatment for the woman's minor injuries.
The driver was approaching right lane when she hit black ice and lost control on the vehicle. The pickup truck rested on its roof near freeway exit to Robb Drive, NHP reports said.
NHP officers warned drivers on the hazardous road condition that black ice can cause among motorists. Vehicle drivers must slow down when approaching shaded areas such as bridges and overpasses. Authorities also warned that melted snow can re-freeze starting dawn.
