Bicyclist Severely Injured when Struck by a Big Rig
October 8, 2009
Anaheim - A bicyclist was brought to a hospital suffering from severe injuries after he was hit by a semi-truck along the 91 freeway off-ramp and Kraemer Boulevard.
According to Anaheim traffic investigator Rick Alexander, the incident occurred while the bicyclist was approaching the eastbound 91 freeway off-ramp as he was traveling southbound on Kraemer’s west curb.
The initial investigation showed that the semi-truck stopped along the off-ramp. The big rig was starting to gain speed to turn right at the boulevard when the bicyclist passed in front of it, said Alexander.
The bicyclist, who was not using his head lights, was hit and knocked over the ground. He was pinned under the semi-truck’s front bumper.
He was brought to UCI Medical Center in Orange with severe injuries after the accident.
