Baby food recalled for botulism poisoning
October 20, 2009
The federal Food and Drug Administration has ordered the recall of Plums Organics baby food for fear that it might caused botulism poisoning—a rare paralytic condition.
The food company recalled their apple and carrot flavored variants last Tuesday after deciding that it was unsafe for babies to eat – although there were no reports of consumers who were affected by the product. But more importantly, it did not pass the Food and Drug Administration standards.
All recalled product that had an expiration date of May 21, 2010 was recalled. Plums Organics were sold at Babies “R” Us and Toys “R” Us.
The recalled product is 4.22-ounce pouches, with a "best by" date of May 21, 2010. The UPC is 890180001221.
