Car Accident: Atwater Woman Dead in Highway 99 Wrong-way Collision

Merced County - A 48-year old woman was killed after her vehicle had a head-on collision with another car early this morning, the California Highway Patrol reports.
The victim was driving on the northbound lane of Highway 99 when a vehicle driven by 19-year old Khushdeep Gil went the wrong way and crashed directly to her car.
CHP said Gil was driving at around 65mph when the collision occurred about 1:15 a.m.
The woman, who was not immediately identified, died in a hospital in Modesto where she was airlifted.
The suspect had only minor injuries and was detained at the Merced County Jail facing charges of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
