TRAIN ACCIDENT: Amtrak passenger train hits college student

Santa Barbara –An Amtrak passenger train has struck a 23-year-old college student from Santa Barbara City College while he was on Wednesday at 5:25 p.m.
The young man from Santa Barbara City College was walking along the railroad when the Surfliner knock him dead.
Normally, Amtrak train has its standard operating procedures implemented when it approached East Yanonali Streets. The northbound train was traversing the San Luis Obispo from Los Angeles with a speed of about 40 MPH.
The witnesses reported that they did not notice the young man nor heard any sound from him. They commented that the horn from the train's signal may have curbed the man's yell.
At least 150 elementary students were present in the Amtrak station at the time of accident. CHP officers escorted the children to nearby bus station. State Street and Amtrak train operations en route to San Luis Obispo resumed after two hours.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were still investigating the details of the accident.
