PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: 73-Year-Old Woman Killed in Pacific Coast Highway
March 15, 2010
Malibu – A pedestrian accident along the Pacific Coast Highway at Winding Way has claimed the life of a 73-year-old woman who was trying to cross the road this morning.
The woman was identified by the coroner’s office as Amelia Ordona who worked as a residence caretaker with her sister.
According to the preliminary investigation, Ordona and her sister were trying to cross the Pacific Coast Highway to catch a bus when she was hit by a northbound vehicle, throwing her onto the other side of the roadway.
Ordona was then struck by at least six other vehicles, some of which did not stop and kept going.
The driver who initially hit Ordona, though, stopped and cooperated with the police.
Ordona was declared dead on the scene while her sister sustained minor injuries.
The Pacific Coast Highway was closed between Kenan Dume Road and Malibu Canyon Road while the police conduct their investigation.
The highway was reopened to motorists at around noon.
