Terra Bella – An Ivanhoe driver sustained major injuries and was flown to a hospital Wednesday morning after the big rig he was driving turned over into a dirt embankment on Avenue 256 in Terra Bella, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to reports, the big rig was heading south on Avenue 256, behind a Toyota truck when the big rig driver failed to control its speed. He tried to avoid collision by turning into an embankment where it overturned. The Toyota truck also tipped over on the same embankment.
CHP officer Sgt. Darrel Giefer said the big rig driver was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for treatment. The driver and one occupant of the Toyota truck were taken to Sierra View District Hospital, while one passenger was brought to Kaweah Delta Hospital.
