November 5, 2008
Sacramento – A 20-year-old bicyclist died after sustaining serious injuries in a hit-and-run crash at the Foothill Farms area over the weekend.
The Sacramento County’s coroner officials identified the victim as Clark W. Trainer who was said to have no permanent address at the time of the accident. Trainer died at 9:26 AM at the Mercy San Juan Medical Center.
He was riding his bicycle when he was hit at about 12:52 AM by an unknown vehicle driving northbound on Watt Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Lizz Dutton said in a statement.
The unknown vehicle had fled the scene of the crash without stopping, Dutton said.
A witness who was also driving northbound on Watt Avenue found Trainer lying on the road and immediately called 911 for help. Officers found Trainer’s bike at the scene, it had not been damaged. Evidence show that the bike had not been run over, Dutton said.
The case is still being investigated at the moment by the California Highway Patrol.
