PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: 14-Year Old Girl Killed in Lodi Pedestrian Accident

Lodi – A 14-year-old girl was killed in a pedestrian accident in Lodi this morning.
The victim, who was identified as Brianne Prieto, was on her way to a school bus stop with her sister when she was struck by a passing car on East Highway 99 Frontage Road at about 5:45am.
Lodi was brought to a nearby hospital where she later died due to major injuries.
According to the CHP, Prieto and her sister crossed the Frontage Road to check on a box that was on the side of the road as they suspected that there may be someone inside.
The pedestrian accident happened as the two girls tried to cross back to the other side of the road.
The CHP is still investigating the incident and it appears that alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as cause.
Investigators found out that there were no streetlights in the area and it was still relatively dark when the accident occurred.
Authorities have impounded the car that hit Prieto as part of the investigation.
The identity of the driver has not been released by authorities.
