MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH: 1 Killed, 3 Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-15

December 29, 2010

Riverside County – An 11-year-old boy was killed and three other persons were injured Tuesday morning in a multi-vehicle accident along Interstate 15, near the 60, the California Highway Patrol said.

Authorities said Joshua Archila, 11, of Orange, suffered fatal injuries after his father’s 2000 Toyota Camry was rear-ended by a 2006 Ford F150 truck at around 10:30 am on I-15 in an unincorporated area of Riverside County.

According to reports, David Rudder, 53, the driver of the truck failed to notice the vehicles ahead of him slowing down. Due to the impact of the collision, the front of the 2000 Camry slammed at the back of a 2005 Camry, which then hit the back of a 2005 Suzuki Forenza.

Archila and his 8-year-old sister were rushed to Loma Linda Medical Center, where the boy was pronounced dead. The 30-year-old mother of the siblings was also injured and taken to the same hospital.

Rudder was brought to Corona Regional Medical Center with minor wounds.

The CHP is still investigating the chain collision.

No one was arrested and no citations were issued.
